January 2019 Newsletter

Happy New Year!  It feels like we have only just rung in the new year, but January has almost passed us by, so I think we may be in for a speedy 2019.

The Love Local team is back refreshed and ready to go.  We love this time of year as some of our key local suppliers that take a break are returning to harvest, which provides an even better range of locally sourced produce.  It is great to have Te Mahanga Orchard back, bringing Central Otago fruit and courgettes and we look forward to other produce as the summer progresses.  By the time I write my next update, we will also have Wilson’s Veges back to weekly supply.

Following significant positive feedback, we are delighted to confirm that our meal plans and recipes service will be continued indefinitely.  We hope that by providing some ideas on how to put together tasty, nutritious meals from the contents of your Love Local bag, we are making it easier for you to eat well and reduce waste.

We thank everyone who took the time to provide survey feedback at the end of 2018.  Congratulations to Marcus Tuwairua, the lucky winner of one month’s worth of free Love Local deliveries as part of our survey promotion.  We are compiling the feedback and will gradually introduce some changes throughout 2019, in response to your suggestions.  We won’t change the core of our service, as many of you were happy with what you are currently receiving, but will take a look at what we can add to the existing model to provide more flexibility and a better customer experience.

We would also love to continue to grow the good we can do in the south throughout 2019, so if you are loving your Love Local service, please be sure to tell your family and friends.

Stay healthy

Louise,  Operations Manager

We would like to thank our customers who regularly leave out their empty bags for us to collect. If you have some Love Local bags around home or work to return to us, can you please leave them out at your usual drop off point.

Then we can wash and reuse them and keep sharing the love!

Love Local delivers locally sourced (where possible) fruit and vegetable bags to customers in Southland. This is super convenient and great value for our customers. Our primary charitable activity is our 'Healthy Whanau' scheme, which supports those in need with access to low cost fruit and vegetables.

Buying your fruit and vegetables from Love Local puts money into local businesses and provides healthier outcomes for those in our community that most need it. This will grow in proportion to your support!

If you are not a customer yet and would love to join Love Local, you can order directly from our website www.lovelocal.org.nz or phone us on (03) 928-5073.
